Platinum Goats - substantiation

We have decided to award Platinum Goats, the special prize of the 26th International Young Audience Film Festival Ale Kino! to Mr Witold Giersz, for his lifetime achievement in children’s animation.

This year’s Winner is sometimes called the ‘doyen of Polish animation’, although, full of youthful energy, he still seems too young for the term. Mr Witold Giersz belongs to a category of those great artists who bring Polish art to the height of its glory, making it famous worldwide. It would not be easy to list his numerous achievements in just a few words. His work is a fascinating trip into the world of imagination. His films are not merely exciting or funny stories - they are also beautiful pictures. In every artistic scene, the film world takes on a different shape. In each of them, the audience can discover new colours and textures. For many years now Mr Witold Giersz has been teaching his viewers, young as well as old ones, that the artistic form presents fascinating challenges. He has also proved that children’s animation can become a perfect medium: full of wisdom, giving fun and also shaping the audience of first-class art.
